OUR VIBE
Fringe is the exotic, the chaotic, a twisted mind-blowing concoction.
We’re looking for novels, novellas, and short stories primarily in the thriller/horror/sci-fi vein that bleed from genre to genre and can’t be neatly put into a box. Work that is visual, plot-heavy, and potentially adaptable to film and TV—screenwriters welcome and encouraged to submit!
If your work is non-fiction and fits the criteria, send along.
We encourage BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and voices from all over the world.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
Email the following to [email protected]:
Simultaneous submissions are A-OK, but please query using separate submission emails.
- In the body of your email, paste your complete query letter—word count, genre, paragraph synopsis, comp titles, and bio.
- Attach a 1 to 3-page synopsis, which discloses the ending (even if it’s a surprise twist).
- Attach your full manuscript as a Word document .doc or .docx.
RESPONSE
We only respond to submissions we’re interested in publishing. If you don’t hear back from us within ~4 months, the manuscript has not been accepted.
Consideration for:
A Murder of One
Our kick-off publication will be A MURDER OF ONE: Stories inspired by the Counting Crows’ “August and Everything After.”
This wonderful, revolutionary album turned 30 recently. We are looking for short stories inspired by the songs for an anthology, with a word count of 10K or less.
DO NOT give us a literal interpretation of the song. In other words, we don’t want “ROUND HERE: about Maria, a girl from Nashville, who’d like to meet a boy who looks like Elvis.” Be more creative.
Specify in the email heading if you’re submitting to the Counting Crows Anthology, along with Story Title.
Currently no specific deadline for submissions.
