"What type of extraordinary material do you want?"

The type that frustrates agents and editor because they don't know "where it would live on the shelf." We're our own shelf.

As of 2026, Fringe is seeking:

Novels primarily in the thriller, upmarket literary, sci-fi, and crime/mystery space that bleed from genre to genre and can’t be neatly put into a box. Also open to romance, YA, and other fiction as long as it stems from some big, hyper-original concept. Our focus isn't necessarily on plot-driven or character-driven stories. Just make us ask "wtf am I reading" at every turn.

Submission Process

Email the following to submissions@fringepublishers.com:

Simultaneous submissions are A-OK, but please query using separate submission emails. 

• NOTE: we’re currently ONLY reviewing novel submissions.
• In the body of your email, paste your complete query letter—word count, genre, paragraph synopsis, comp titles, and bio.
• Attach a 1 to 3-page synopsis, which discloses the ending (even if it’s a surprise twist).
• Attach the first ~5,000 words as a Word document .doc or .docx, or PDF.

Response

If you don’t hear back from us within ~3 weeks on the query, the query has not been accepted.
